Initiative Overview

Green Means Go

To commemorate the return of the Indy 500 and celebrate the city’s resilience during a difficult year, MTN DEW partnered with the speedway and a local food bank to bring some timely excitement and support to communities across Indianapolis. Calling on racing fans in Indiana to join our “Green Means Go” campaign, we asked individuals to submit a message of hope for their local community. The first 500 submitted messages each unlocked a $40 donation to the Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and its “No One Runs On Empty” program, which supports frontline workers and helps fight hunger for communities in need, totaling $20,000 in donations from MTN DEW.

Beyond supporting frontline workers and local hunger initiatives, our “Green Means Go” campaign aimed to energize racing fans ready to experience one of the sport’s biggest weekends. From limited-edition Indy 500 DEW bottles to the Ultimate Race Day Start Kit, fans entered for a chance to win exclusive gear and prizes to fuel their race day enjoyment. “With Project Green Means Go, DEW will not only celebrate the 105th Indy 500 race but also the fans and local community who helped make it happen,” said Umi Patel, former-CMO, PepsiCo North Division.

RAISE YOUR FLAG

Beyond the donation made for each of their submissions, the first 500 fans and their messages of hope were also each featured on 500 flags installed at Celebration Plaza in White River State park during race weekend. Fans and locals alike were able to walk through the installation and find these various messages of hope on display. The immersive experience helped serve as a reminder of Indianapolis’ strength, hope and resilience through challenging times.

“The return of this year’s race brings back that celebration for all of us, which is why I’m excited to be partnering with a brand like MTN DEW who’s bringing the fans together and is making local community support to my partner Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana a priority.”
