Drag for all flavors / Bubly out at night

Initiative Overview

Drag For All Flavors

The pandemic changed so much about life for all of us, impacting every community in unprecedented ways. Understanding that the LGBTQ+ community in New York City, especially nightlife performers, were facing unique challenges, we wanted to do something to support those looking for much needed joy and connectivity. Partnering with GLAAD, we launched bubly brand’s #DragForAllFlavors campaign, featuring local LGTBQ+ members and drag stars. In addition to creating unique content all year long, these community icons selected other NYC-based queer creators, entertainers, photographers and drag kings/queens to receive a donation via bubly to help lift up the community.

Matthew Conrado, part of Brand Marketing for PepsiCo North Division, said #DragForAllFlavors is just the latest in an ongoing commitment to champion the LGBTQ+ community. “This campaign is a love letter to drag and the individuals in New York City who lift our community’s spirits during our darkest moments. We are living in unprecedented times, and now more than ever, it is important to look to our chosen family to provide strength and hope for one another.”

Home for the holidays

As part of the “Drag for all Flavors” campaign, we partnered with SAGE, a national advocacy organization dedicated to LGBTQ+ elders, and brought along NYC drag icons and director Austin Nunes to create a larger-than-life take on the traditional holiday advent calendar. Starting December 7th, one featured drag king or queen posted a behind-the-scenes teaser shot leading up to the debut of a music video for Nikki Era and Mikey Pop’s holiday single, “I Hope I See You This Christmas,” created exclusively for bubly to stream on major music streaming platforms.

"I HOPE I SEE YOU THIS CHRISTMAS"

Initiative Overview

Bubly out at night

To celebrate the return of New York City’s iconic LGBTQ+ nightlife scene after a difficult year of lockdowns and uncertainity, we partnered with Pride Media to shine a light on the individuals and allies that make this community so special. Through the “bubly Out at Night” program, we were able to showcase many of the scene’s local icons, bring to life their stories and how so many lives were transformed by the industry and impacted by the pandemic.

In an epic video directed and shot by our frequent collaborator Austin Nunes, a local queer director, and set to the sounds of “Higher” by singer-songwriter, Vincint, we captured the excitement and pride of a community ready to make a comeback. From the promoters to the performers to the bar owners, “bubly Out at Night” shined a light on the real people who make this legendary scene so colorful.

Community Impact

Continuing a Legacy

bubly Out at Night” is a continuation of our support of the LGBTQ+ community in NYC. In addition to the local content created for the campaign, we donated $15,000 to support Henrietta Hudson in the West Village, a historic mainstay of the city’s nightlife and one of the only 15 remaining lesbian bars in the country. “In supporting Henrietta Hudson, bubly is supporting not just a space for the LGBTQ+ community to safely gather but it also allows us to stand as a pillar of queer endurance,” said owner Lisa Cannistraci.
